Jewellery Tuition and Classes



Alongside the wedding ring classes, our resident goldsmith also teaches a selection of jewellery classes, at Denbies Vineyard or at a venue near you.

We run the following classes for up to 10 students at a time. Send an email with an enquiry if you would like to arrange for a class near you.


Half-day classes

Beading Workshop
Design and make a necklace and earrings using simple beading techniques. Add semi-precious stones and pearls for exquisite handmade designs.
Time: 10am-12noon
£50 per participant. Fancy clasps, semi-precious stones and pearls available for purchase on the day.

Stacking Rings
Learn to texture, bend, solder and polish silver to create a series of rings. Experiment with twisting wires, hammering and satin finishing for different effects.
Time: 10am - 1pm
Cost: £89 per participant including materials to make 3 silver rings
Max 6 students

Cufflinks
Make a pair of sterling silver cufflinks. Forge, hammer and texture the silver for different effects, then solder your finished design to a pair of sterling silver cufflink backs.
Time: 10am - 1pm
Cost: £89 per participant including materials for a pair of personalised silver cufflinks
Max 6 students

Pearl Stringing
Learn the art of creating a hand-knotted pearl necklace using silk threads. Pearl knotting is important for protecting the pearls, and can be used to great effect. Swarovski pearls are included in this class. Freshwater pearls are also available for purchase.
Time: 10am - 1pm
Cost: £89 per participant including stringing materials (pearls can be purchased on the day)

Wax Carving
Learn to carve jeweller's wax into your own design for a ring or a pendant. Wax carving allows the creation of more 3-dimensional and organic forms, resulting in a unique finished piece.
Please note: The wax-carved rings are sent away for casting into silver and will be ready 1 week after the class.
Time: 10am - 1pm
Cost: £89 + individual metal for finished piece (usually around £20 - £40 depending on design)

Full Day Classes:

Chain Making
Create decorative links and solder them for a chunky chain bracelet. Techniques include forming, texturing and soldering.
Time: 10am - 4pm
£125 +materials (copper is provided but silver is extra)
Max 6 students

Stone-set ring Workshop
Make your own adjustable forged ring with a cabochon stone. Techniques covered include soldering, stone setting, forging and finishing.
Time: 10am - 4pm
£125 + cabochon stones available for purchase (from £5)
Max 6 Students

Rivetted Pendants
Create pendants with moving parts using rivets - fun to make and to wear!
Techniques covered include piercing, drilling, finishing and rivetting.
Time: 10am - 4pm
£125 per student +materials (copper is provided but silver is extra)
Max 6 students

Jewellery Drawing and Design
A technical drawing class for those interested in progressing in jewellery design. We wil cover orthographic and isometric drawing for jewellery, plus a few tips and tricks for quickly bringing your sketched ideas into professional 3D drawings.
Time: 2 full days 10am - 4pm
Cost: £200 per student
Max 10 students



Classes are also available as a private tuition in our mobile jewellery workshop with space for 1 or 2 students. The cost for this is a set fee of £200 for a half day, or £300 for a full day, whether one student or two.
